Louisiana Assisted Living Association Spring Symposium

Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Session #1 10:00 am – 12:00 pm The Assisted Living Industry is Not What It Used To Be – Responding To The Top Ten Trends and Issues That Will Impact Owner-Operators in 2011 and Beyond This session will address – in detail – the top ten issues that are or will affect just about every assisted living operator due to the very slow economic recovery resulting in “delayed Senior living demand” and higher resident acuity levels.  Enhancing occupancy and the business opportunity associated with providing assistance in living – both on and off a Senior living campus will be addressed.  This session will also include the sharpening of the approach and market positioning involving the delivery of market-responsive Alzheimer’s/dementia services in the future.  The session will conclude with a specific strategic action plan for 2011. Session #2 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm Shaping The Future Vision – Enhancing Financial Upside Potential While Remaining Market-Responsive Jim Moore will address a full spectrum of operational challenges and opportunities in areas such as staffing patterns, direct care cost containment and recovery, market-responsive tiered pricing while offering detailed financial benchmarking strategies.  As assisted living residents age-in-place and resident acuity levels increase, many operators are unintentionally giving away services.  A troublesome trend known as cost creep has become a multi-million dollar problem in some communities.  This program will outline a specific five-step process which will allow operators to recognize that they have the problem, identify the sources and provide cost-effective solutions resulting in a substantial increase in positive cash flow.  Jim Moore will also address the top ten practical strategies for 2011 to realize survival, growth and profitability for owner/operators.
